- Color – Why do you want to use a particular color? Is it part of your logo or other aspects of your brand? Don’t just use a color because you think it’s pretty.
- Images – Your images should support your story. Do you really want to post your dog’s photo on your site? Your images should help you build credibility, sell, or explain.

Keep It Simple
The worst site include too much clutter. There is such a thing as too much content on a web page. There should be no more content on a page than what you need to get your point across. When you have too much stuff on a page you overwhelm people and they will click off of your page and go to a competitor’s website.
Avoid the following to maintain a simple to use website:
- Too much text content – Unless you are a blogger and you are writing in depth posts, avoid too much text on one web page.
- Too many photos and images.
- Fill every square inch of space on each web page. White space is necessary. It makes reading your website easier.
Keep It Secure
You can keep your website secure several ways, but here are the most important ones:
- Use https instead of http.
- Update your WordPress installation. Always install the latest version of WordPress and keep updating it.
- Update all of your plugins.
- Use strong passwords. A strong password has at least 15 characters. It includes upper and lower case letters with a combination of numbers. It is not like your previous passwords. A strong password should not include any dictionary words, your name or your username. You can use password generator tools like strong password generator.
